LIBERTY CUP UPDATES
April 13th
The tournament sweatshirts and t-shirts will arrive on Tuesday, so the pick-up is postponed from Monday to Tuesday evening, 7-8 PM at the FPYC Clubhouse in Fairfax City.

April 10th
Tournament results are posted on the website. Congratulations to all the Champions and Finalists.
Teams can pick up the last merchandise orders at the FPYC Clubhouse on on Monday, 14 April, from 7 PM to 8 PM.
April 5th
All orders for black tournament sweatshirts or blue long sleeve tournament shirts must be faxed or emailed to Eagle Point Sports by this Sunday (4/6/08). Complete details are in the order form on the tournament website (merchandise page).

April 1st
FPYC would like to thank all teams that participated in the inaugural Liberty Cup Invitational. Over 265 teams from Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, West Virginia, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey played nearly 530 games last weekend. The sportsmanship and competition were excellent, with many tie games. We will post results on the website in a couple of days.
Saturday evening’s coaches game, sponsored by DC United and Golden Boot Soccer, was a also good game with great prizes and food afterwards.
So many people asked for black tournament sweatshirts and blue long-sleeve tournament shirts that we have arranged for a post-tournament order, which is on the tournament website. We want to complete these orders quickly, so teams must fax or email orders to Eagle Point Sportswear by this Sunday (April 6th). Teams will pickup and pay for the orders at the FPYC clubhouse on April 14th (Monday), or may pay an shipping fee to have orders mailed to them.
FPYC would like to extend a special thanks to the McLean, Lee-Mount Vernon, and Braddock Road soccer clubs, as well as the Northern Virginia Coaches Soccer League, for providing game time on artificial turf fields.
Don't forget DC United's special offer for this Saturday's season opener, which is on the tournament website. Team orders must be faxed in by 3 PM this Thursday.
We hope all Liberty Cup teams will consider participating in FPYC's fall pre-season Patriot Cup Tournament, which will be on August 30th and 31st. The Patriot Cup will feature the same 4 game format as well as many turf fields. Details will be posted on the FPYC tournament website by May.
March 28th (7:30 AM)
Pre-order sweatshirts and t-shirts are available for pickup at the FPYC clubhouse tonight from 7-8 PM, or at your game site Saturday morning.
A couple of games were moved in the U10B and U14G age groups, and the changes are in the on-line schedules.
Any weather closures will be posted as soon as possible on the website updates page and emailed to all teams. Be sure to check the website before you leave for your Saturday morning game.
Teams that did not check-in yet must check-in tonight (7-8), unless they have coordinated an alternative with the Tournament Director or Tournament Registrar.
DC United’s will be at Baron Cameron Field 3 to sign autographs from 2:30 - 4:00 on Saturday. The DC United prize van will be at Baron Cameron from 2:00 - 5:30.
March 27th
The on-line schedule was updated at 6 AM on 27 March. Some games in the U14G, U16G, U16B, U15G, and HS Girls were changed.
We would like to thank the Northern Virginia Coaches League, Braddock Road Youth Club, Lee Mount Vernon Youth Club, and McLean Youth club for providing much needed game time on artificial turf fields to the tournament. Their generous support is greatly appreciated.
The FPYC Clubhouse is on West Dr in Fairfax City, not West St.
Pre-ordered sweatshirts and t-shirts arrived last night. Any girls teams that checked-in last night are welcome to pick up their items at the clubhouse on Thursday of Friday, or to pick-up their items at the game field. Any teams that have not completed team check-in should pick up their items during check-in. Please be prepared to pay with cash or a check made out to FPYC.
March 25th, 11 PM
Corrected schedules (as of 11 PM 25 March) are posted on the tournament website, as well as updated field directions.
Coaches and club representatives should email Deanna Saracino (deanna.saracino@goldenbootsoccer.com) by noon Friday if they would like to participate in the Coaches game.
Teams will receive game result cards during check-in. Winning teams are responsible for completing the card, getting referee and opposing team signature, then submitting cards to tournament staff within one hour. Both teams should submit game results cards for tie games. Complete instructions will be included with the cards.
March 25th, 5 PM
We posted the schedules on the website early this morning and will make a handful of corrections this afternoon. Several age group changed locations yesterday, so teams due to field allocations. All teams should check the schedules on the website Friday evening, in case there are other changes.
Please check the rules for the details of the tournament format, such as tournament points, tie breakers, championships, consolation games, etc.
- Groups of 5, 7, or 9 play a four game round robin, and do not have a championship game. Champions and Finalists are determined by tournament points.
- Championships and Consolation game pairings are based on preliminary game results, so many teams won't know their Sunday afternoon game time until games are played Sunday morning.
- The top two teams, by tournament points, in a group of six advance to the Championship. The remaining four teams are paired by ranking for Consolation games (#3 vs. #4, #5 vs. #6).
- The top teams of each Flight, by tournament points, in a group of eight advance to the Championship. The remaining teams will be paired by rankings for Consolation games (#2 in Flight A vs. #2 team in Flight B, etc.).
Team check-ins are Wed (7 PM - 8:30 PM) for girls teams, Thursday (7 PM - 8:30 PM) for boys teams, and Friday (7 PM - 8 PM) for out-of-state teams. The FPYC Clubhouse is in Providence Park, in Fairfax City, but does not have a street address (NOVA, 13, H-11).
- From Rt 123 and Main Street in Fairfax City: go south to West Dr, turn right, go straight at the stop sign, follow road to the left and enter the Providence Park, clubhouse is at the end of the parking lot.
- From Braddock Rd and Rt 123 by GMU: go north on 123 to West Dr. turn left, go straight at the stop sign, follow road to the left and enter the Providence Park, clubhouse is at the end of the parking lot.
It is important that the all teams check-in so tournament staff can review their documents, and any problems can be resolved, before Saturday. Teams that are unable to complete their team packet by their scheduled check-in should email travel.tournament@fpycsoccer.org to make alternative arrangements. Out of state teams should email travel.tournament@fpycsoccer.org to confirm their check-in time on Friday. We will post all tournament updates on the website, and will send them by email as time allows. Teams should check the tournament website for field closures if we have inclement weather. The FPYC hotline (703 591-FPYC) will also be updated with field closures.
The coaches game and social will be on Poplar Tree Field 3 (turf) at 6:15 - 7:15. All coaches and club representatives are invited to attend. DC United and Golden Boot Soccer are providing raffle prizes. Golden Boot Soccer is also proving team t-shirts for the first 30 players. DC United is also providing a special ticket offer for all Liberty Cup Champions and Finalists.

First games Saturday and Sunday are at 8:00 AM. Nearly all groups are done by 6:15 on Sunday. Some U15B, U16B/G, and HS Boys have Saturday evening games on lighted fields; all other games are completed by 6:15 Saturday. Most U13 and U14 age groups have early games, while only a few U15/U16/HS games start before 11 AM.
All teams must attend the team check-ins to show team rosters and pickup tournament items. Girls team check-in is Wednesday 7 PM - 8:30, and boys team check-in is Thursday 7 PM - 8:30. Out-of-state teams may check-in Friday, but teams should email (travel.tournament@fpycsoccer.org) to confirm the time. Teams should pickup any pre-ordered sweatshirts or t-shirts during check-in (cash or check payments only).
Any adult can attend the team check-in for a team. They must have an original roster signed by the club registrar, two copies of the team roster with any guest players added, player cards signed by players and club registrar, a medical release for each player (guardian signature). The amended copies of the original roster will be the official tournament roster. Guest players should be handwritten on the tournament roster and regular season players not attending should be crossed off. (Do not write on original spring season rosters.) Tournament staff will review the original roster, and keep one copy of the tournament roster.
Carded travel players or house players registered for the spring season can participate as guest players. Travel players need to present their current player cards. House players need to have a player card signed by the club registrar, but are not required to have a photo on the player card. Guest players may be from a different club, as long as any requirements for each club have been met. (Tournament staff does not need to review club documents.)
The Coaches game and social is at 6:00 PM Saturday at Poplar Tree field 1. Coaches and club representatives are invited to watch or play in the game, and then stay for food and beverages. We will have raffle prizes from DC United and Golden Boot Soccer during the social.

February 21st
We have over 200 applications, but we can accept a team or two in several age groups.
All applications must be delivered by next Monday, 25 February.
We will email all applying teams by this weekend to confirm that their application was delivered, and will announce accepted teams as soon as possible.
February 16th
We have had a great response to the Liberty Cup Invitational, but can still accept a few teams in most age groups. All applications must arrive by 25 February. The list of accepted teams will be published a few days after the deadline.
